To My Girlfriends: Thank You!

I adore my kids.  Love them to pieces.  But sometimes I just can’t stand them.  Know what I mean???  The drama from my 7 year old daughter, the frustration and anger from my 4 year old son and the clinginess of my 22 month old daughter will drive me up the wall.  Sometimes, the only thing that saves me is to get rid of them.  I know that I can always call my mom (who luckily lives ½ mile away) and say to her, “Come take these kids!!!” and she will be over in a matter of minutes.  Sometimes it’s my husband that saves the day.  He’ll come home from work, walk in to the kitchen from the garage, and take one look at my face and usher all three kids outside to play for 30 minutes.

But honestly, most of the time, it is my girlfriends that keep me sane.  I have amazing friends, really brilliant, funny, lovely friends.  They cook ,raise smart, intelligent children, run their own blogs, have successful careers whether at home or in an office, are well-read, funny, talented women and fantastic parents.  They know me so well, all they have to do is take one look at my face and they jump right into the mix.  They can cheer up a grumpy kid, give me a little break or just empathize.  Girlfriends are the food for the soul.  They support us when we need it, push us when we’re afraid to jump or throw us a life preserver when we’re drowning.  I’ve been in all these situations and can proudly saw that I have friends that would drop anything to help me, love me, save me.  To all my wonderful girls, THANK YOU for being you…..and for putting up with me.

I hope you have some of these friends out there.  If not, run out and make some…you won’t regret it.

About Dana

I'm a wife, mother and stay-at-home mom for my three crazy kiddos. In my former life I was a Food Scientist and Product Developer for The Coca-Cola Company. I quit to stay at home and spend more time with my kids. Once that happened, I realized I needed an outlet for my creativity so I started an embroidery business out of my home. In my downtime (what's that???) I love to cook, garden and read. I started blogging as a way to connect with other parents, share stories, find some humor in life and a new outlet for my creativity.
